Bread Pudding

YIELD: 8 SERVINGS 

PREP TIME: 20 MINUTES 

COOK TIME: 1 HOUR 25 MINUTES 

TOTAL TIME: 1 HOUR 45 MINUTES 


INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 loaf of Challah bread (If you cannot find this, you can substitute for a French bread)
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 4 Tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoon Cinnamon 
  • 1 1/2 Cups milk
  • 1 Cup Heavy Cream
  • 4 Eggs

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Rip your bread into 1" chunks. This does not need to be exact, just small enough it's comfortable to chew. placing the chunks into a casserole dish.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and cinnamon and whisk until well combined. 
  4. Add in the eggs and whisk well.
  5. Over medium high heat, add in your milk and heavy cream to your large pot, stirring consistently for 2 minutes. Add in your mixture from the bowl. Stir to combine throughly. let heat for an additional 3-5 minutes forming a custard. 
  6. Add custard mixture of your bread chunks
  7. Bake uncovered for 40-50 minutes. The pudding will be lightly browned and slightly jiggly in the middle. 
  8. Serve warm with desired toppings (ice cream, whip cream, or fruit)
